History
Third son of the infamous Jinguji corporation. He lived his life in Neo Domino City and went to the duel academy like many his age. His skills were praised and he was making a name for himself. Unfortunately this wasn't something Ren really wanted to dedicate himself to, but he saw no reason to rebel against his family's wishes. He could pursue his real dreams later and having a name for himself would serve well for his future plans.
This, however, changed when the son of their rival family - the Hijirikawa corporation - started attending the duel academy as well. It didn't take a long time for Masato to become popular because his skills were said to rival Ren's. The newly brought challenge didn't make Ren interested - but the fact he was losing the people who admired him because of the guy did.
Ren challenged Masato to a duel. Surely their skills were equal, but their ambitions and passion were on different level. Unlike Ren, Masato really wished to succeed in the world of dueling. It was impossible for Ren to win and he was humiliated in battle. Because of his defeat and the show he had put on, the last of his admirers started cheering for Masato and left him behind. Rumours of Ren actually being a loser and that he had actually cheated in earlier duels started going around.
The rumours and information on what had happened reached the house of Jinguji and Ren was pulled away from the academy without a word.
While Ren was away from the academy, he dueled with several kinds of people to further improve his skills. He wanted to do everything he could to return to the spotlight. When he was finally satisfied with the level he was at he sent another challenge to Masato.
He never showed up for the duel.
It was an unfortunate accident that led Ren to his death. He left the world with regret and his will to surpass Masato and get his revenge. Because of these feelings he was revived as a Dark Signer under the mark of Hummingbird.
